In honor of Mother's Day, I'm so excited to share a recent maternity session with a favorite couple of mine. Their faces may be familiar, since they happened to have an amazing wedding just last year, and a beautiful engagement session the summer prior to that. It's seriously such an honor for me to get to see our couples go from engaged to the start of their family. Kaitlyn & Derek have hearts of gold and I know they're going to be amazing parents to their little girl.
Bread and herb infused pre-wedding celebration
The Scene: Glamourous and trend setting expectations out the door, this bride to be, with French sensibilities, looked to her own closet for wardrobe and her own linen closet for the table with a heavy linen tablecloth and turned it into a afternoon rehearsal dinner and pre-wedding preparations including close family and friends. The European way: chic and simple celebration brimming with easy and classic details.
The Look: Aromatic herbs and bread on the table set up an afternoon of celebration with warm and clean lines combined reflecting a classic table with an equally settled-in look. As if taking place in a meadow, the fête is dotted with flowers from a nearby meadow and winds into the bouquet for ceremony the next day with coneflower, lavender, nicotiana, statice, fresia, and phlox.
The Bouquet: Textural white on white blooms with easy linen ribbon cut from the same cloth as the table covering and frayed at the edges for more texture and laissez faire approach to the days ahead.
The Feel: Rose’ to drink on the tables, an invitation for a small country wedding in France makes for an inviting an unfussy union to come for everyone invited.

This winter has been deliberately on the quiet side! There's a good reason for that - there's a new baby in our home! Our second child, Reese Louise, was born just after Christmas on December 27th and our hearts have never been more full. Every baby born is a miracle and we feel so blessed to have this little one join our family.
I'm so thankful that I can take time to soak up the newborn snuggles during our slow season. As you can guess, Tom and I have pulled the camera out a fair amount in her first few months. Some of our favorite photos are below. They're a combination of photos we took in the hospital and in her nursery (mostly shot on film - Pentax 645). We're so excited to introduce you to our little girl!
