VanderBrug Family Session

Aleida & Marcus are one of my all-time favorite couples that I’ve gotten to know through photography. From engagement, wedding, and newborn chapters of their lives, I have truly been blessed to get to capture their journey from behind my camera. Their family session this year was so much fun, with Ivy showing more and more of her adorable personality. Enjoy some favorites of this sweet family (oh, and don’t forget their pup - Wietse!).

Lynn & Matt | Lake Minnetonka Wedding

Lynn and Matt were married on one of the last warm days of the summer. While their ceremony and reception would later take place on a boat on Lake Minnetonka, they choose to begin their wedding day together at another location. This little chapel is really special to Matt’s mom, who shared it with Lynn - thus making it special to her! The Scandinavian simplicity of the chapel, along with the open field it was on, was such a private and special place to begin a wedding day.

After their time at the chapel, we boarded a boat where things would be made official! After a really special and personalized ceremony by their friend and pastor, Lynn and Matt celebrated with their closest friends and family as the boat cruised around Lake Minnetonka. The sunset was everything we had hoped for, with the sunset photos being some favorites of the day (no surprise here! I love sunset!).

Wishing Lynn and Matt congratulations, hugs and many years of happiness. Thank you for inviting us into your beautiful wedding day to celebrate alongside you!

Katie and Mike | St. Paul Wedding

Katie and Mike had one of the most beautiful days of the month for their big St. Paul wedding celebration. With their fun (and big!) bridal party beside them, these two were married at the amazing Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. A favorite part of the day was their exit from the Basilica down the steps. They were whisked away to St. Paul for their reception at A’Bulae. We made a quick stop at St. Thomas as a nod to where their story began. These two are packed full of fun personality, so the reception was truly a party with friends and family who were so excited to celebrate with them. Katie and Mike, and both sets of parents all took dance lessons before the wedding. It was fun to see their new moves incorporated into the first dance and parent dances! I’d say they nailed it. Our time on the rooftop was such a perfect ending to the day. It’s a quiet moment away from the party and the photos are always worth it. Congrats again, Katie & Mike! The future is bright for you two together!

Laura & Matt | James J. Hill Library Wedding

It is always an honor as a photographer, when you get to work with families more than once. It was a few years ago at her sister Kathryn’s wedding that I first met Laura and her relatively new boyfriend, Matt. Fast forward a few years, and it was time for Laura & Matt’s own wedding. These two drove up from Omaha earlier in the summer to do some wedding planning and their engagement session with me. We had such a great morning together and I knew their wedding was going to be just as fun!

Laura and Matt did a first look with each other at a park, and it was so sweet to see Matt wiping a few tears away as he looked at his beautiful bride. These two are just fun to watch interact and that’s where the real magic of the photos happened. Following their church ceremony, the reception was held at James J. Hill Library in St. Paul. This is a favorite venue of ours in St. Paul because of the grand architecture and unique library lined walls. Laura’s dress was so classic, fitting her personality and the vibe of their wedding to perfection. With gorgeous flowers by Fleur de Lis, live music by Phil Thompson (you just cannot beat live music!), and the perfect sunset to round out the evening, it was a gorgeous day from start to finsih. It was effortlessly elegant and a true reflection of Laura & Matt’s personalities.
